Hey folks, I am so excited to share this bonus episode with you. If you've been following along on socials, the Your AI Roadmap book just dropped, woohoo! Just a few days ago, and we had the virtual book launch, which was amazing, over 100 people signed up, and we had the in-person book launch here in Seattle. And honestly, I was a bit terrified of who was gonna show up, and you know, it's a really big deal for me to put my work and my heart out there. So one of the things that I did was, ask some of my friends and mentors to speak, to give a little bit of their perspective about my work, who I am, this book, and my dear friend and mentor, she's still my mentor, she says in this that we're like peers, which in some ways we are, in some ways we totally aren't, Kimfer Flanery- Rye spoke at my book event. She was an early reader of the book, she gave feedback, she's given me invaluable advice. in the last few years that I've known her and I wanted to share this little clip with you so you can get a little perspective. know, it's one thing to hear from me and there's another thing to hear from people who are really close to me about me, about the book. Anyway, of course... I almost cried several times during this time of being on stage in front of friends and family and community and wanted to give you a little taste and like people told me afterwards that this was one of the highlights of the whole event and I was like, excuse me, like reading the book wasn't the highlight or getting the book signed? Okay, whatever, And so I definitely think for the next book events having guest folks come and speak, I have my book event in Portland in just about a month now and already have tapped some folks to join me in speaking there. Let's hear the clip. I'm the founder of Inclusion Equals and also I support an organization called F-Bomb Breakfast Club which is for women entrepreneurs, women femmes and gentle thems. It's a peer-to-peer community in which we support And so I just love the way that our lives have integrated throughout in the last several years. And I really had the beautiful honor of being one of her beta readers for the book She was really gracious saying, like, you don't have to the whole thing. There's a section I'd like you to read and feedback. If you have time, it's out there. And then I was like, I just want to read it all. So I literally read the whole thing and probably gave her more feedback than she really wanted hahahaha But I really love the fact that You know, for me, because I am bringing a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) lens when she was writing the book, and she was so gracious when I would say, hmm, this perspective here, this doesn't quite work for everyone when you're part of the BIPOC community socially, economically. not in a place where you can make some of these decisions, it doesn't really represent well here. And so she did a really lovely job of readjusting those narratives and understanding. And she already had so much of that integrated in there. But the fact that I the opportunity to make those nuance adjustments and be able to provide feedback on a book that she's so passionate about. And that I got to be part of her journey in making that happen has been like, for me, I'm so grateful that I got the opportunity to do that for you and with you and I just couldn't be more proud of the fact that this is happening for Joan because she has so much knowledge, so much experience, so much information to share and always great about sharing that with others too. I think she is a expert networker And networking, it doesn't have to be like that gross thing where it's about, it's about sales and people put into big bucks networking isn't about that Can you find relationships? Can you find ways in which you can give? Again, give-get is a really important part of, I think, building and she I learned so much from from Joan when it comes to that and she is fearless in reaching out and just saying like could you would you can you without any pressure or anything like that and then I'm always having a opportunity to say like what can I do for you and so again those are some of the things that I know about Joan really started out more at a professional level but I feel like between you, your partner, your dog. Times that we've gotten together outside, they came to my 25th wedding anniversary and 50th birthday party dressed up in prom gear. And so I really am appreciative of starting out. This is how I think networking relationship can really grow into personal relationships and support each other in ways that is beyond just transactional thoughts or questions for me. Well, hopefully that was interesting for you. I loved hearing from Kymfer and hopefully that inspires you to check it out. Get into the book.
